1 | Handwritten Cards

There is something to be said about a person who takes the time to hand-write notes or cards, especially in a time when most people text and e-mail. Handwriting a card lets the person know that they are important.

If you send a handwritten note to an employee, ensure you personalize each one and refrain from writing the same generic message for everyone. Take the time to note their strengths and contributions and thank them for the value they add to your company.

2 | Surprise Them with a Perk!

While some people may not like surprises, employees who are gifted with an unexpected perk will feel appreciated. Most businesses probably offer incentives for employees who are dedicated, but Christmas is a great time to give them even more. It doesn’t have to cost you a lot and it can be as simple as offering an extra day off or shortened workdays during the holidays. You can even allow them to work from home so they can save some of their vacation days. 

3 | Provide Food and Snacks

This holiday season is a busy time for most businesses, and employees may be staying late to get all the work done. You can order in food for the employees who are working past closing time so let them know you appreciate them. This will make them feel valued!  Remember to keep in mind various dietary needs.

4 | Purchase a Personal Gift

While employers enjoy putting their logo on every employee gift, sometimes those gifts are impersonal. Take the time to get to know your employees so you can buy them a little gift that’s personal to them; not every gift has to be the same. It can even be a simple as a gift card to their favourite restaurant or store.
