Life is busy, so, it’s easy to ignore proper maintenance for your car. Performing these six preventative car maintenance tasks we've outlined below will hopefully help you discover potential issues early, thus saving money in the long run.

Six Preventative Maintenance Tips for Your Vehicle

1. Read the Owner’s Manual

This should be the first thing you do from the list of preventative car maintenance tasks. As every car is different, your manual will provide details for your specific car. Keep the manual in a safe place so you’ll know exactly where it is when you need it.

2. Routine Inspection

Get in the habit of regularly checking the state of your car and performing any maintenance necessary. This may include checking and changing oil, fluids, filters, sparkplugs, windshield wipers, and tires.

3. Change Oil

Every car has different needs when it comes to oil. Be sure to check your owner’s manual to know exactly when you should change the oil and which type of oil to use.

4. Check Fluids

Even beginners can learn to check and change fluids, too. Check under the hood to see if there are markings where the ideal level of fluids should be. This is a quick and simple preventative maintenance task for your car that can help avoid a lot of future problems.

5. Replace Windshield Wipers

A lot of car owners neglect the windshield wipers. It is relatively inexpensive to replace the wipers so if your view is becoming obstructed with streaks or the wipers aren’t doing their job, be sure to replace them.

6. Tire Maintenance

This is one of the bigger preventative maintenance tasks to complete but a very important one! Be sure to check your car’s tire pressure as a part of your routine inspection. You should also get your tires rotated as this will help your car’s tires last longer, saving you money later.

Completing preventative maintenance is the key to keeping your car in its best shape and having it last as long as possible.
