Summer is the time to relax, travel and enjoy those long summer days with family and friends. If you are planning on leaving your house for an extended period of time, you want to make sure your home is secured and monitored. When it comes to keeping your home safe you can never be too careful.

We have a few simple tips to help you protect your home this summer.

Lights | If you have your lights on a timer it will give others the idea that someone is home. Furthermore, keep your drapes just slightly opened.

Lawn | Get to know someone who lives in your area, hire someone or ask a family member to cut your lawn while you are on vacation this summer. In addition to cutting the lawn, they can do a quick check of the property.

Mail | Having your mail collected daily, or every few days is always a smart idea when you plan on leaving your home for a long period of time.

Air Conditioning | Another tip is to turn off your air conditioner and water supply, as you may not need it while you're away.

Alarm System | Ensure you have a monitoring alarm system and inform the alarm company that you will be on vacation.

All of these tips will keep your home safe and secure in the summer months while you are away.
