What Is Ontario 511?

Ontario 511 is an Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) telephone service that provides the public with information about provincial highways. This service provides travellers with information about road closures, winter road conditions, and construction projects. Ontario 511 uses voice recognition and text-to-speech technologies to pull information from a variety of databases.

How Can I Access Ontario 511?

You can access Ontario 511 by simply dialing 511. If you can are calling while on the road, make sure to pull over safely before using this service. Agents are available for you to speak to Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To speak to an agent, press zero. This service is available for those with hearing impairments at 1-866-471-8929.

To access information online, visit the MTO website. The website provides travellers with an interactive map. Users can click on symbols/conditions on the map to get more detailed information. The online service also provides information about service centres, ferry services, provincial parks, and travel information centres.
