Giving Back | Purse Project Niagara + Hamilton

This year Youngs Insurance discovered a fantastic local initiative called Purse Project Niagara and Purse Project Hamilton. Purse Project collects new or gently used purses for women in shelters and distributes them at Christmastime.

We were thrilled to drop off over 50 purses to Purse Project Niagara and over 20 purses and supplies to Purse Project Hamilton.  We’d like to say a special thank you to our staff and clients who made donations to this wonderful cause!

The deadline for donations for Niagara was October 31st to ensure purses could be organized and delivered in time for Christmas.  However, our Waterdown location is currently accepting purses until the end of November for their local campaign.  Donations can be dropped off at our Waterdown Office @ 95 Hamilton North.

Purse Project Origins

Purse Project was established in 2016 by friends Sarah Boville and Mandi Neiser, who were inspired by Toronto’s Angel Freedman, creator of “Fill a Purse for a Sister Campaign.”  Sarah and Mandi liked the idea so much they decided to adapt it to Niagara. Within 24 hours they came up with a campaign of their own.  Last year more than 800 purses were collected and donated.

We were very inspired by this story and look forward to participating again next year.
