Thinking Forward - Building Characters, Building Communities
Thinking Forward's mission is to provide character education for children and youth of inner-city schools focusing on anti-bullying.
Thinking Forward is a Toronto based charity that provides art and leadership training that empowers students to create positive change in their communities. They believe that leadership is an essential component in the development of children’s self-confidence as well as their compassion for other people, resulting in fewer occurrences of bullying in schools. They strongly believe that greater integration of character development initiatives in the current Toronto District School Board curriculum will help foster future young leaders.
Inward Leadership, Outward Leadership, Forward Leadership
In their half-day workshops, students explore themselves, classmates and school community. Their programs help youth develop positive character traits and leadership skills so that they can make positive contributions to their communities rather than being hurtful to one another. Thinking Forward’s proactive approach to preventing bullying from happening in schools is to encourage children and youth to be more community focused and empower them to be responsible, work together, and help others.
