These Documents Always Need To Be In Your Car, SnapQuote Insurance

In Ontario, there are specific documents that you must always have in your car, however, many don’t know what they are - we’ve made it easy for you and listed them. You’re welcome!

When it comes to driving on Ontario, we often forget about the documents we should be keeping in our car in the case of a situation. Make sure you are aware of the three documents we’ve listed below, as they will help you in any scenario you find yourself in.

Checklist of the Mandatory Ontario Documents in your Car

#1 Driver’s Licence

A G1-licenced driver can only drive a car with a G-licenced individual who has at least 4 years of driving experience, and they must be in the passenger seat. Some other restrictions include not being able to drive on any 400-series highways or high-speed expressways and not driving between midnight and 5 a.m.

# 2 Vehicle Registration

Your vehicle registration document provides proof that it is registered where you live and that the car is registered to you.

#3 Proof of Insurance

Your proof of insurance document, also known as a pink slip, will allow you to state your car is insured in the province of Ontario.

All three documents listed above should be on you at all times while you are driving in Ontario. Our best tip is to keep these documents with you at all times to prevent them from getting stolen or any car theft that may happen, furthermore, make sure you have photocopies of these documents somewhere safe at home - just in case you ever need to reference them.
