Riding a motorcycle can be a lot of fun!  But did you know there are some pretty amazing benefits, too?

4 Benefits of Riding a Motorcycle, StreetRider Insurance, Ontario

When it comes to the reasons why you enjoying riding a motorcycle, you can now add these 4 benefits to your list.

1| Good for Your Mental Health

Motorcycle riding is very beneficial to overall mental health.  Riding is fun so it makes you happy and boosts endorphins.  Riding in the sun also increases your Vitamin D exposure, which is a mood enhancer.

2 | Does Your Body Good

An important health benefit of riding a motorcycle is that it burns more calories than driving a car, ultimately increasing your physical fitness! The legwork required to back up your bike along with the constant balancing act is a lot more work than driving a car.  Your core is strengthened while balancing, your thighs get stronger while backing up and your neck builds strength just by wearing a helmet. Maintaining the correct posture on your bike also helps to keep your body in shape and can improve muscle tone because it’s actually considered low impact exercise.  Low impact exercise means riders have improved insulin sensitivity for hours after a ride, which in turn promotes weight loss.

3 | Helps Your Brain

Riding a motorcycle is as good for your brain as it is for your body.  Motorcyclists are forced to focus on ways that drivers don’t have to worry about because they really have to pay much more attention to the surroundings.  Actively focusing on a task is excellent for your brain and riding a motorcycle encourages that.

4 | Mother Earth is Happy

Motorcycles are a greener choice of transportation because they are more fuel efficient than cars and emit less greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide. Not to mention, if you drive an electric motorcycle, you are making Mother Earth even happier!

If your passion is riding this list isn’t going to entice you to ride more, however, it's an interesting conversation and it’s nice to know that we can have such positive benefits from something we love so much!
