Join us and wear an ORANGE SHIRT on Monday, September 30, 2019, to help spread the message that every child matters!
#OrangeShirtDay takes place on Monday, September 30, 2019, and we are encouraging our employees to participate by wearing an ORANGE shirt to work!
Why Do We Wear Orange Shirts?
The purpose of wearing an orange shirt is to honour those who attended Residential Schools. This event began by Phyllis (Jack) Webstad, whose orange shirt was taken from her on her first day at a Residential School in 1974. Her mission is to spread the message that every child matters and that everyone should feel included.
"Orange Shirt Day is also an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come." - orangeshirtday.org
In honour of Orange Shirt Day, Youngs Insurance will be donating to this initiative. For more information about this campaign or to make a donation, please visit http://www.orangeshirtday.org/.
Today we remember everyone affected by Residential Schools.
Every child matters.
