Staff Question | Group Benefits Age

Posted in bpresponses

Q: Why do group benefits end at age 70? When there is no 'mandatory' retirement. Is this a 'condition' of the insurance company (Great West) or is this Youngs policy?

A: It is a Youngs policy.  Since the benefits are sponsored by the employer, the employer can make decisions with respect to coverage, termination age etc. At this point, the policy is that benefits terminate at age 70.  It was 65 in the past.
