A Helpful Guide for Motorcycle Commuters

Posted Sep 2nd, 2020 in Motorcycling Tips

There are many benefits to riding your motorcycle to work. If you are one of those commuters, we have some tips for you!A Helpful Guide for Commuters, StreetRider Insurance, Ontario

Commuting to work on your motorcycle is much different than using your car. That's why we've shared some helpful tips for you to consider!

3 Uncomplicated Tips For Every Motorcycle Commuter

Commuter Tip 1 | Obey the Law

Different commutes present different circumstances. If you have a commute that involves dense traffic you may be tempted to use the small stature of your motorcycle to swerve and weave in and out of traffic. If you have a commute with lots of open roads you may be tempted to excessively speed. We are all for getting to work on time and having fun doing it, but not at the expense of breaking the law.

Commuter Tip 2 | Watch the Weather

It's a good idea to check the weather to see what your daily commute may present you with. The morning may be sunny but should you prepare for a rainy ride home?  Always be sure to ride according to weather conditions and if you feel uncomfortable about them DON’T RIDE!

Commuter Tip 3 | Drive Defensively

By now you have figured out that many divers have no clue how to share the road with motorcycles. You should ride your motorcycle defensively and cautiously -  don’t assume someone in a car sees you. This may mean double or triple-checking to make sure someone is stopping when supposed to, leaving the extra room when changing lanes, and making sure you’re always aware of your surroundings.

We hope these tips help you have a safe commute to work on your motorcycle without taking the fun out of it!
