At Youngs Insurance we make it our mission to support causes in the communities we operate within. My Warrior Princess was introduced to us by one of our staff members, and we asked her to share with us a little bit more about My Warrior Princess - here are her words.

As a mother of two healthy, beautiful children and the daughter of someone who was diagnosed and survived breast cancer, this story really hits home for me.
I was introduced to "My Warrior Princess" as a simple like on a Facebook page. After reading post after post I never realized how much this would have an impact on me. No one should have to endure in a lifetime what some young children are going through in their short 4 or 5 years of life (some of them even younger).
Mila was diagnosed with a brain tumour on January 16, 2016. After a 6.5 hour surgery, the neurosurgeon brilliantly resected the tumour from the sweet 5-year-old’s cerebellum. A few days after her surgery, Mila, unfortunately, suffered a severe side effect called Posterior Fossa Syndrome. Mila lost all speech and processing abilities along with immobility and ataxia. This was something the family would have to tackle in the midst of starting Mila’s radiation protocol.
In May of 2016, Mila started chemotherapy and this intense therapy will continue until March 2017.
The family has established a website through McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation. All donations collected from the site will be directed to Dr. Adam Fleming for his research in finding a cure.
